Alexander Wang recently launched a bias-cut streamer skirt which was stunning but not accessible for everyone’s budget. In my penchant for affordable luxury I decided to have a shot at creating something inspired by this skirt.
I took an existing skirt that was made of fabric that won’t fray, (this pencil skirt was from Stradivarius and was very affordable) and made of imitation leather, I measured and cut 3cm width strips upwards being careful not to cut past the horizontal seam that was already sewn into the skirt. The existing seam will stop the strips from stretching further up the skirt.
This DIY only took a few minutes but was a great way to make an ill-fitting pencil skirt more current. Hope this inspired you to customise your own old wardrobe pieces!
