Hey Guys, I know it has been ages.
I just wrapped on my TV show, Eat List Star, and am now recovering from the latest family trip to Perth.
A lot of my expat friends ask me where they should take visiting friends and family when they come to Singapore. I also get a lot of people from Dubai and Perth asking me where they should go.
I have been here almost two years and am still getting acquainted to the new Singapore (vastly different to the place I lived from 2005 to 2009).
So, here are a few places I recommend which I have discovered since moving back to Singapore this time around:
For a great view and great pictures:
Monti at the Fullerton Pavillion is a stunning bar with views of Marina Bay. The restaurant serves delicious Italian food, great cocktails (you MUST order the Bella Monti) and has a staircase leading to a roof top bar with 360 degree views of the entire area.
For great shopping with character:
Forget the hustle of Orchard Road and the chain stores and check out the amazing character-filled stand alone stores of Haji Lane. The historical Arab Street area has a stunning Mosque and great Nasi Padang nearby when you have finished your shopping. You can see more of the area in my video here.
For souvenirs that aren’t tacky:
Head to To Be Calm in Capitol Piazza. These candles have the most amazing scent and fabulous Singapore-themed box sets and travel candles with cute slogans. I also heard that the brand is now available at Sephora Singapore.
For Great Food:
My favourite place to dine at the moment has to be Whitegrass at Chijmes. Chef Sam Aisbett was a judge on my food TV show, Eat List Star, and he is the most wonderful host. Best yet, he has infused his dishes with amazing Asian flavours. Not only will your loved ones enjoy taking pictures around the historical Chijmes precinct (my Mum went to school there) they also will get to enjoy a wonderful fine dining meal in contrast to the hawker food they have probably been feasting on since touching down in Singapore.
Hope this helps! Enjoy this amazing city.
